Luke's First Haircut

Luke was born with a lot of hair and instead of falling out it has grown longer and longer. It was getting a little too long for Daddy's liking so he decided to give him a trim last night. He didn't like it at all because the clippers were so loud. Hannah was in the bathtub and was screaming "no stop it Daddy". It was pretty funny. People were always calling Luke a girl and I couldn't figure out why. Drew said it is because he has long hair. I guess he is right. I just didn't think of cutting it at only four months old. But he looks really handsome in his new look.

Hannah and Luke Update

Luke is four months old now. The time has just flown by even faster than I could have imagined. Luke is such a cuddlebug and I love snuggling with him. He coos all the time and laughs hard at anything Hannah does for him. He smiles at everyone and is getting chubbier all the time. He is a joy to us. He rolled over for the first time sometime in Feb. and now you can't keep him on his tummy for too long. He has found his feet and plays with them all the time. He has been grabbing and holding on to toys for a while now and trys to put everything in his mouth. He can't always get in there but he's working on it. He is trying to roll from his back to his tummy now. I think is is going to be an active one.

Hannah is loving being a big sister now. She wasn't so sure about mommy and daddy giving all that attention to Luke in the beginning but of course she doesn't even know any different now. We have tried potty training a couple of times but with the arrival of Luke things got complicated and well she's still in diapers for now. She is such a smart little cookie. She loves reading books and telling us stories. She starts all her stories out with "Once upon a time". Today she told one about me that went something like this - once upon a time there was momma who was the most beautiful momma in the whole wide world - needless to say that one is my favorite:) I bought a rhyming bible and Lindvall children's bibles for Hannah and Luke about a week ago. I highly recommend both of them. Hannah loves them. They used the Lindvall bibles at Harding Academy with the preschoolers there. I always remember loving them. They are just perfect for telling little ones God's story. Hannah loves playing with her toys of course and is getting a little bit more independant playing in her room by herself for a little while each day. She likes to be where I am and plays near me most of the time. She is such a good helper with Luke. She will hold a toy in front of him and play with him if he is fussy and I'm busy. She throws all his dirty diapers in the trash for me and brings him a pacifier if he needs one. She calls him "little buddy". Life with the two of them is really busy but it is so sweet.

Our trip to Disney

We had a blast on our trip to Disney. We meet my parents down there for a couple of days. We went to the Magic Kingdom and to Universal. Hannah loved it! It wasn't an easy trip with two kids in diapers and one nursing but it was so much fun and I will remember it forever. The highlight of the trip for me was Hannah meeting Mickey and Minnie. She loved it. I enjoyed the ride on the teacups with Hannah and Drew. Luke did great on the trip and at the parks. He is such a sweetie. I don't want to leave Drew out. He had fun too and was Super Dad carrying Hannah around most of the time and putting her on his shoulders so she could see the parades and the rides.

Luke is Born

Luke William Custer was born Thursday, November 6 at 12:20PM. He was 7lbs 9oz and was 20 1/2 inches long. He is healthy and doing well. Mommy is doing good now although we had to stay an extra day in hospital to keep an eye on her fever. We are all doing well and are very happy recovering at home and enjoying our new addition.

Pregnant Brain

Hannah has been sick now for about 3 weeks. We just can't seem to shake this cold/ ear infection. Hopefully, the second round of antibiotics that she is now on will help her to finally shake this thing. As I type this she is in her crib coughing and trying to sleep she is so tired. Please keep her in your prayers. She is doing well during the day playing as usual. It is just the night time that we are struggling with right now. Really it isn't too serious it just breaks a mommy's heart to see her little one sick. The C-section is scheduled for two weeks from today but we are always aware that the little guy can make his appearance any day now. We still don't have a name picked out for him. We're trying but just not coming up with anything we love just yet. The Philies are in the World Series and Drew is pretty excited about that. He has gotten Hannah involved in the action as you can see from one of the pictures.
She is going to be a ladybug for Halloween this year. I couldn't get her to put the costume on at first. She kept telling me "I don't like it, I'm a sad ladybug". I don't know where she got that. But one night when she was up late with an earache Drew convinced her that ladybugs were fun because they could fly. She put the costume on and he flew her around the room. Now she loves it. So hopefully we won't have any issues come Halloween night. The church here hosts a trunk or treat so that should be fun. We are going to decorate our trunk and give Hannah a chance to trick or treat there. She is understanding more so I think it will be a lot of fun.
On Thursdays we have a playgroup here at the church with 4 or 5 others mom and about 6 other kids under 5 years old that we are really enjoying. Today we went to the firestation but I didn't remember the time we were meeting so we were 45 minutes late and got there as everyone was leaving. Hannah still got a chance to sit in the truck and look around for a minute but because of my pregnant brain she missed out on most of the really fun stuff like trying on the suits and all. Oh well. Well, the group was going to Chick-Fil-A so we followed along. Once we got there I was at the counter and the lady was taking my order. Another lady walked up to me and said "What are you having?" (keep in mind I am very very pregnant right now) I said "An 8 piece nugget". She was referring to my baby not my order. I laughed until I almost cried which was just about as embarassing as my answer. Then I proceed to tell the lady taking my order that she didn't charge me enough for my meal. I thought I was being a good person. Turns out she did. I was looking at something else on the menu. I said just give me my food and I'll walk away. The thing is I don't think that I can blame all of that on pregnancy but I'm sure going to try. Just thought that was funny enough to share:)
